When Words Don’t Come Easily

Communication influences most aspects of our daily life. When your child struggles to be understood, you watch their confidence fade with each “what did you say?” When speech or swallowing becomes difficult as an adult, every conversation and meal can feel challenging.

Common Signs We Help With:

  • Speech clarity concerns – “what did you say?”
  • Language struggles – difficulty expressing thoughts
  • Voice changes – hoarseness, strain, or vocal fatigue
  • Social challenges – trouble with interactions or friends
  • Feeding difficulties – gagging, choking, or texture refusal
  • Neurological recovery – changes after medical events

Frequently Asked Questions

What to Expect

What if my child gets frustrated during therapy?
Our therapists are skilled at making sessions feel like play rather than work. We go at your child’s pace and use activities they enjoy. If frustration happens, we see it as information about which approaches work best for them.
Will my child fall behind in school while attending therapy?
Actually, speech therapy often helps children do better in school by improving their communication skills. We work with teachers when appropriate and with parental consent, and can schedule sessions to minimize classroom time missed. Clearer communication supports learning across all subjects and disciplines.
I'm an adult - is it too late to improve my speech or voice?
It’s never too late to work on communication goals. Adult brains are remarkably adaptable, and many adults see significant improvement in speech clarity, voice quality, or swallowing safety with focused therapy.
What's the difference between speech therapy and tutoring?
Speech therapy addresses the underlying skills needed for communication – like how sounds are made, how language is processed, or how swallowing works. Tutoring focuses on academic content. If your child struggles with reading or writing due to language processing issues, speech therapy often helps more than traditional tutoring.
Do you offer bilingual or interpreter services?
Yes! We partner with Language Services Associates to provide professional interpreter services at no cost to our clients. If you need language assistance during your appointment, let our team know when scheduling and we’ll make sure an interpreter is available.

How do I pay my bill?

Insurance Coverage: We accept most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Quartz, Aspirus Arise, United Healthcare, Aetna, and many others. To verify your benefits and explain your coverage, we recommend verifying with your insurance provider.

Self-pay options: Don’t have insurance? We offer fair self-pay rates with payment plans available for qualifying families. Communication support shouldn’t depend on your insurance situation.

Convenient Scheduling: We offer flexible appointment times including evenings, with assessments often available within a week. Telehealth sessions work well for many communication goals when that’s more convenient for your family.

Important Note: Stroke-related communication and swallowing therapy requires coordination with your medical team for safe, comprehensive care.

Crisis Resources: If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or seek immediate emergency care

* Clients with Medicare are required to have a referral for testing and assessments.
