Robyn has worked with children and teens of all ages in both school and clinical settings to help develop literacy skills. She is trained in using the Orton Gillingham Approach, which is designed to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily to students, such as those with dyslexia or other learning struggles.

The Orton-Gillingham Approach

The Orton-Gillingham approach is an effective teaching method designed to help children with dyslexia and other learning differences improve their reading and spelling skills.
How it works:

  • Multisensory Learning: Uses all senses including sight, sound, touch, and movement to help students connect with and remember the
material in a way that suits them best.
  • Personalized Lessons: Each lesson is customized to fit the student’s unique learning style and pace.
  • Step-by-Step Process: Learning starts with the basics and builds up gradually, ensuring students fully understand each step before
    moving on.
  • Clear Instructions: Concepts being taught are clearly explained, so students understand exactly what they’re learning.
  • Ongoing Progress Monitoring: Progress is closely monitored, and lessons are adjusted as needed.
  • Focus on Language Structure: Teaches the building blocks of language, focusing on phonology (the sound system of language), morphology (word structure), and orthography (spelling patterns).

Specialized Services for Children & Teens:

  • Dyslexia Support: Targeted instruction for children and teens to help overcome the difficulties associated with dyslexia.
  • Reading Intervention: Personalized support to improve reading fluency, comprehension, and phonics skills.
  • Writing and Spelling Assistance: Personized instructions to strengthen spelling and writing techniques.
