Yer Yang, LPC-IT, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Training. Coming from a refugee family background has shaped her passion for improving advocacy and increasing accessibility to evidence-based mental health resources for marginalized individuals, families, and communities.
Yer earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Stout and her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University in Illinois.
Yer provides counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families, focusing on supporting individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including refugees, immigrants, and other marginalized populations. In her counseling work, Yer strives to provide a nonjudgmental, safe, and accepting space that fosters healing and growth. She integrates a multicultural and social justice perspective into her practice, utilizing Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and trauma-informed approaches. Yer is dedicated to empowering clients to find their autonomy and harness their strengths as they navigate life’s challenges.
