Maria Villena, Psy.D., earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Albizu University in Miami and is currently completing her postdoctoral hours toward licensure as a psychologist. A native speaker of English and Spanish, she has spent more than five years working with children, adolescents, and adults in private practice, community mental health, and pediatric hospital settings, always with the goal of meeting people where they are and helping them feel understood.
Maria specializes in comprehensive psychological evaluations, with a particular focus on autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning differences, and trauma-related concerns. Her clinical background centers on trauma-informed care, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which she has used with survivors of sexual assault, children navigating grief, and adolescents working through emotional dysregulation. Clients can expect a warm, collaborative process where questions are welcome and results are explained in plain language, with practical next steps for home, school, and work. She is especially passionate about serving Spanish-speaking and bilingual families.
Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maria brings island warmth to every telehealth session and works to make each virtual visit feel as comfortable and personal as meeting in person. When she’s not working, you’ll probably find her at the beach, going for a walk, or spoiling her dog, who occasionally makes a cameo on camera.
