Ebony Butler, PhD is a licensed psychologist. Dr. Ebony earned her BS in psychology from Jackson State University, MS in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University, and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston.
Dr. Ebony is passionate about making sure that marginalized communities and groups have access to quality mental health care. In her work, she specializes in trauma recovery and healing the relationship with food from a decolonized approach and anti-diet lens. Dr. Ebony has training in a range of clinical interventions including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Dr. Ebony’s approach to clinical work is collaborative and integrative. She sees the client and therapist as collaborators in the client’s journey to achieve the goals that will lead to a greater quality of life. Dr. Ebony empowers clients to take up space in their therapeutic partnership as she believes this leads to them feeling more capable of taking up space in their own personal lives.
When Dr. Ebony is not wearing the hat of a psychologist, she is a pet parent to two Yorkie Chihuahuas. She loves traveling and is a self-proclaimed foodie and culture enthusiast.
